Call for Board Members

Thank you for your interest in serving as a member of the Board of Directors of Sierra Commons. Serving on the board is a rewarding experience and an opportunity for personal and professional growth. Completing this form will help you understand the skills, time and resource commitments this leadership position requires. Please read the entire application and Board Member Responsibilities before filling out the application form.  

This application will be kept confidential and on file at the Sierra Commons office. The Board’s Nominating Committee will review each application carefully to identify and evaluate potential board candidates. All new directors are elected by a majority vote of current board members. Potential candidates will be contacted in December.

BOARD MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Serves a minimum of one (1) one-year term on the Board. Eligible to serve additional terms if re-elected.  

  • Attend an average of two (2) events each month (includes board meetings,  committee meetings or other events). The Full Board of Directors meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m (time can be changed to suit the majority).  

  • Makes a serious commitment to participate actively in committee work.This is a working board where each director chairs a committee. 

  • Stays informed about committee matters, is prepared for meetings and reviews and  comments on minutes and reports.  

  • Builds a collegial working relationship with other committee members that contributes to  consensus.  

  • Participates in the committee's annual evaluation and planning efforts.  

  • Participates in the advancement of the strategic plan including fundraising and member recruitment.
