Education for the entire community

Sierra Commons develops and implements education and training programs to help local residents take their business skills to the next level. These programs are charitable in nature—they enhance the economic sustainability of western Nevada County by fostering successful practices among Nevada County small businesses, nonprofits and entrepreneurs.

Room to grow

In addition to our educational programming, Sierra Commons hosts a variety of small and expanding businesses and non-profits at our downtown Nevada City office. This office space is maintained for use by both Sierra Commons’ programs and its tenants. Businesses that incubate or co-work here get easy access to all our educational programs, professional office amenities, peer mentoring and in-house counseling.

Business ignitor courses

Our flagship offering, these courses are a multi-week series of seminars targeted at specific clusters, such as brand-new micro-enterprises and struggling small businesses attempting a restart. The seminars are taught by established professionals and include, but are not limited to, information on business plan creation, marketing, and incorporation issues.
